There’s a San Cristóbal illustrators’ community who run Stickerfest, the illustrations market, and different drawing events. They also publish an occasional fanzine. I participate in the April edition: Toys.

This is a belly-tickling assignment with infinite possibilities for drawing cute, fun or nostalgic things. But my anti-consumerist streak came to the fore and I decided to go with number 2 on Wired’s list of the 5 Best Toys of All Time: Box. I’ve seen these in action among kids and they are a whole world of fun!

Of course the illustrations had to be on cardboard. Although I drew the line at making actual cardboard collages. And I ended up adding soft toys too, for the vet, and crayons, for the immersive artwork.
